REFLECTION ENZYME: THE EFFECT OF AMYLASE ON A STARCHY FOOD

            After we have done with our experiment, we know that teamwork play an important role in any group project or experiment. Without a good cooperation, experiment or group cannot be done. In this experiment, there are some unavoidable mistake that occur. It is may be due to how we handle our material and apparatus. In the next experiment, I will try as much as I can to handle the apparatus and material properly to minimize the error. Then, this experiment really make me a very patience person. This lab project takes along time to finish. It takes us so much time that we expected. We just bear with it until we finish all of the lab project.

After we finished our lab work, we need to submit our laboratory report and write reflection on what we have learned throughout the session. This is my genuine reflective writing on what I have gained during the class. I believed that reflective writing is used to increase understanding and analytical ability. Teachers or lecturers are able evaluate the experimental work throughout their students’ written reflections. Reflection also can indicate my level of knowledge associated with the experimentation.
In this experiment, there are some errors in our results. We believed that it due to us did not handle the materials and apparatus correctly. In next experiment, we will make sure to handle the materials carefully and trying minimize the errors occur. I hope that we can learn from our mistakes and make an improvement in the next experiment work.
Due to the failure that we obtained in some of our results, we can learn that not all experiments will be a success. There will be some errors in the experiment no matter it is a little or much because we human are not perfect. But we can always learn from our mistakes, and take it as a lesson learnt for us to work better in the future.
In this experiment, I would to thanks my groupmates for their cooperation throughout the lab work and being helpful.

Assalamualikum and hello everyone, today we are doing the laboratory project about enzyme. The purpose of this experiment to look at the effect of amylase on a starchy food. For this experiment, we use rice as our sample to test the presence of starch. First, we make a 3 model guts make of visking tube and tie a knot in one end of the visking tube. Three visking tube than be placed into three boiling tube and be added with three different type of solution which is water, amylase and treaded amylase. The boiling tubes containing the model gut placed into beaker contained water at 37 0C. Then the incubation time was set into 30 minutes. Then every 5 minutes, the solution from the model guts been test with iodine and benedict solution. The visking tube play the role as the wall of small intestine. To look at the present of the starch. We also test the rice with iodine by added one drop of the iodine into the rice. Besides, we also test the rice with the benedict solution, we put some of the rice into test tube and then add 2 mL of distilled water and benedict solution. Then the test tube been place into the beaker contained water at 37 0C.From this experiment, it show that when the presence of the starch the food sample will change into blue black colour when been test with iodine solution. This experiment taught me about the effect of amylase on the starchy food and also how to identify the presence of starch in food.
